Front cover
I thought the front cover to my school magazine was successful by the use of colours and context i used. I chose bright unisex colours the magazine looks appealing to both boys and girls. I made everything on the front cover look packed with ideas and pictures and interesting text. I chose the boarder for my Main Heading to be yellow, the reason i chose this was so it stood out more from the rest of the page. I chose multi coloured writing as this then makes the Front page design look more affective and appealing. I chose not to have a background so all the different colour text i wrote would stand out more and the pictures wouldn't look out of place or make them look as if they didn't fit in. On my Magazine front cover i made the pictures all different sizes, this is good because then my main picture stood out from the rest. What i think went well on my magazine was having a 'Star Pupil' as it made the magazine look a lot more attractive, it showed the school is interested in the pupils. By having a star pupil on my front page i feel as if it made the front cover look a lot more exciting as the font was bright and the biggest text on the page. The photo was a mid shot of the pupil in glasses smiling so she looks thrilled and pleased she had gotten star pupil. This made my magazine look a lot more Personal.

Things I didn't like about my magazine was the background, I would have liked to have a funky exotic colour background but it made my text and pictures look out of place. On some of the pictures i used they looked dull and boring, I wish i had more time to make the magazine look more professional by having more interacting pictures. I don't like that the magazine looked a bit messy but it also gave the affect that it was funky and interesting to look at. Other than that i wouldn't change anything else.

What i think could be improved was the use of pictures, if i had more time to improve my school magazine then i would have took more time in taken pictures and spent more time editing them more to make them have a modern affect that stands out. Another thing that could be improved was making the magazine look more colour co-ordinated and spent more time on making the magazine look neat.

What I learnt? I learnt the main stages of making a magazine and I learnt what would look good to make a magazine. By having less time to make this magazine showed me that I am capable of making a better one with more time. I learnt how to use Key notes and pages and I also used comic life to make High Quality titles, i have never used this before. After making my Magazine i have a better understanding and knowledge Of the Mac.

Back cover
I believe that my back cover was successful because certain things stood out like i planned, for example the head master message was in a red font, I think this worked very well as thats the note for the parents of the children and it wants to be seen and it draws your attention as its red and bold. Things that went were; The pictures, i edited the pictures on Photoshop and gave them a dark dusky background, this idea worked well I believe because it made the pictures stand out more and made the White background look less dull. The Boarder for my back cover made the magazine look a lot more professional compared to the front cover, I like this because its plain and simple, this is how i wanted the page to turn out. The back cover consisted of a context and school days, also a message from the head master, I enjoyed making it simple as its an important page and it made everything a lot easier to read for my target audience.

What I don't like? I don't like the random picture in the middle of the cover as it is irrelevant to the topic, although it is a picture of the staff I didn't like the fact it was there, The back cover would have looked more exiting if there was a picture of sports day, or just a mid shot of some pupils. If i had more time i would have chose to change the picture. There isn't much colour on the back page, although i think it looks good it would have looked better with perhaps a background.

What could be improved- The background could have been a dark/light yellow to fit in with the school logo, The font could have been changed to something more eye catching. I don't think the back cover looks the slightest bit appealing. I think the pictures could be improved, like getting a better capture of the teachers or maybe even getting a more accurate picture of the students joining in on school activities.

What I learnt- I learnt how to use Photoshop, on photo shop I learnt how to put a blur effect on the pictures and i also learnt how to crop out certain bits of the pictures that I don't want. I learnt how to make a professional Magazine cover and a back cover, I showed this by presenting a eye catching piece of work.
